There's some bug in lyx for mac with fink as far as I can see:
I noticed some files were missing from the updated config
Anyway here's my fix (assuming /sw is your fink installation directory):
Install tetex, ghostscript etc. with fink if you haven't already
Install LyX

I'm sorry I don't really understand completely your
answer to the fundamental question.
But, OK, Docbook is not LaTeX. I got that much.
Apparently even though the LyX Win32 version has
templates for these Docbook documents, a user can not
actually create and edit one of them unless other

I am trying to use the Docbook template on 1.3.5 under
Windows XP, but when I load it I'm getting a missing
TeX class "docbook" error.
So I checked my MikTeX setup and sure enough, there is
no Docbook class.
I then tried to update my MikTeX with docbook.
Unfortunately, I can not find

Hi all,
I am brand new to the world of Lyx and I have just installed the
latest version(1.3.5) on my laptop running SuSE 9.0.
Every time I try to open a document(like the FAQ), I get the
following error:
Textclass error
The document uses a missing TeX class "ar

I get the error "Textclass error the document uses a missing
Textclass Hollywood... Lyx will not be able to produce output", it
happens with every template except letter.lyx.
Can anyone give me a hand with this? I would much appreciate it.
Thanks,

You shouldn't probably install new textclasses, but you have to tell LyX

I don't know exactly why this fixed the issue but :
I copied .lyx to .lyx.old and ran lyx again. This created a new .lyx
directory. It appears that the textclass.lst only existed in the
.lyx.old directory.

## This file declares layouts and their associate
I'm getting the following error when I start lyx:
The document uses an unknown textclass "article".
Lyx will not be able to produce output correctly
I'm running lyx-1.2.3-1 with Linux version 2.4.7-10.
additionally after running rpm -Uvh lyx-1.2.3-1rh73.i386.rpm,
Layout 'Section*' does not exist
Just updated to 1.2.1. Now when I open the hollywood template, I get the
following error.
This document uses an unknown textclass "hollywood"...
Anybody know how to fix this. I tried running reconfigure under the edit
menu to no effect.
