segmentation fault

very often, with any lyx version (included the last 1.1.5) and under kde, lyx don't start with "segmentation fault" when this appends, one needs to restart kde to fix the problem. However, I couldn't start lyx from a windows/vnc console. kde was nice (gimp ok...) but no lyx. Is there a kde bug?

editing lyx files

with different help, I have found a solution to the problem of editing lyx files _outside_ lyx. This is necessary, for example, when importing ascii files or to search/replace special characters, not allowed in the search/replace windows in lyx. the problem comes from the fact that latex need car

protected separator

when importing ascii text in lyx, one is bored by an excess of "protected separators. impossible (or I don't know how) to key in these in the search and replace windows. So I cut them out with a simple editor (ie kedit), but this gives usually many orphan \layout_standard and lyx don't like this

I think the lyx/tex behavior of very strict style sheet is very nice. However it's very difficult to edit style sheets because the recursive search it needs. usually the first sheet calls the previous one and modify only a little thing and so on. is there any "style editor" (may be emacs based)
