ted (using ^w) can be pasted (probably to move them). Emacs behavior
is different. Contiguous deleted lines (^k) can be "yanked" back (^y) --
anywhere in a document. (I do not consider Emacs is the gold standard --
let's not repeat the editor flame wars -- it is a convenient feature.)

An editor/text processor that is the only one on the planet that won't
conduct a friendly hand shake with the print layer of sofware is not going
to be very popular.
(Don't emulate MS -- How many MS engineers does it take to change a light
bulb? None. MS declares darkness the standard.)

Hi,
This AM, I tried to open a file with lyx format 2.16 and the lyx2lyx
script failed. I can provide details off-list.

Apparently, the axp cpu limits are undefined.
The error occurs when boost/boost/limits.hpp tries to load the

Surely the axp has not yet gone away, despite Intel's fondest wishes.

If you understand this, you should be able to figure out what to do with
it. Make sure to do the right thing with the "$1" (replace with file name
or put it back into a script so the $1 makes sense).
I
ld be defined (I have done only minor tinkering with layout files).

I think this is a "wish list" item.
With the requisite ERT, I have the preface entry (where preface is
Chapter* environment) properly entered in the TOC and the
\pagenumbering{style} for front matter and regular pages set as desired.
Did I miss a way to do this within lyx?

Worked fine for me with two simple text files produced by MS-word. All the
included examples also worked.

Since lyx has been my primary document preparation software for a few
years -- and because it is very good for what I do, I want to stick with
