I didn't manage to get it receive Unicode string from clipboard. How can I

'Best' depends on the beholder... alternatives are 'acroread', 'xpdf'
and 'gv'.

Forget all the above about "{" etc
JabRef generated keys are recognised and loaded fine by Lyx, both on
linux and Mac OS X.
