it is not easy to understand that they are vertically centered.
Attached a solution which I prepared long time ago. Replace
the images with any other. Or let me know, then I sent you
these demo images.
I can only say that your solution is perfect, Herbert! Thank you very
much indeed!

Dear All
I am trying to insert two figures side by side in a document and I have
followed the instructions indicated on:

Unfortunately, the figures, although appearing side by side, are not
vertically aligned with each other, I mean, the one
I'm puzzled. The "Preface" is located in the frontmatter and tagged as a
chapter. But, when I look at the book in the dvi display created by pressing
ctrl-d, the Preface is listed as Chapter 1.
Doesn't LaTeX remove the numbering from components between \frontmatter{}
and \mainmatter{}?
Thanks
Hi there,

I still have a problem with the style of the inserted bib-references.
They all look like (Fel84) in the Text. But i want them to look like

I don't know if it's already for distribution, but maybe some of you
like to have a look at it. The latex-beamer source tarball at
latex-beamer.sf.net contains a lyx subdir with all relevant files
included, I don't want to post them to the list for size reasons.

I don't know wether a variable is changed by that setting. I don't have
access to this machine anymore, LyX works and the owner is happy ;-)

A simple wrapper script can handle this.

Adding
p+ psfonts.cmz
p+ psfonts.amz
to my ~/.dvipsrc
and adding
\usepackage{ae,aecompl}
made the trick, now pdf files are quite good. Sorry for bothering
you folks...

Hi everyone,
I am getting into trouble converting with pdflatex: the pdf
fonts used are rather crappy, and this is due to the use of
the T1 encoding, as when I comment the line
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}
the pdf works well.
Question: hos do I set another font encoding (or none) from
the interface?
Hello:
Has anybody used nomencl package to create a list of symbols in LyX? Please help me to
do this.
I am writing a book in which I want to include a list of symbols used in the book. I
am using Koma-script book class. I am using pdftex to generate the final output file
in pdf format.

I know I could create a big table, but I'd prefer not to, if possible.
