Hi!
Just to give another example of excellent Unix installation procedures:
take a look at Debian.
Installing lyx is this line (as root): 'apt-get install lyx'. Thats it.
apt resolves all dependencies, loads all needed packages from the
configured source (cd, nfs, ftp, http) and installs them. It

Hi Guys,
Just a comment on this. I understand and agree with a lot of criticism
of Micro$oft
products, and will not use it for development unless at gun point. BUT I
think
one thing where Unix is still a disaster, and Micro$oft got it right, is
in the way
software is installed. Oh Ok, there a

As I am responsible for the Win32-Releases I have followed the whole topic
and this is my comment:
At the moment, because LyX is NOT a Win32 native application you do need any
available X-Server. Xfree IMHO is not ready to be used by all users because
many things have to be configured manually de

Greetings All:
Paper is done, but I do not like how my Bibiography

Thanks.

I don't quite understand, can't you use the "/" key on your keyboard?
You could also get some fractions with the compose key:
compose + 1 2 = 1/2
compose + 1 4 = 1/4

Howdy!
I'm trying to cite in a paragraph environment but it doesn't work.
I keep getting errors that I don't understand. Is it not possible
to cite in environments like paragraph, section, etc.?

Well, I've looked through the Tutorial, the User Guide and a LaTeX command
summary, and I still can't find how to do the following ...
1. Type a fraction as an ordinary slash fraction rather than a math fraction;
2. Type a degree sign (as in "a 90 degree arc").
Am I stupid or what?

Hi there,
is there a possibility to let LyX create index entries automatically like MS WORD ?
WORD uses an additional document with a table with 2 columns to automatically find the
words to be indexed (first column) and adds the description, that will be listed in
the index (second column).
