I also observed some toolbar problem in Rc1, but may not be the same one
discussed above.
Until Beta4, I can dock the preview/update toolbar next to the standard
toolbar, and if I did so, the preview/update toolbar will stay next to the
standard toolbar at next startup of LyX. However, in Sc1,
easoning for LyX to install the tex components which it needs. I can just keep
interupting the LyX installation process in the future.
Thank you very much for all the replies.

installation process while it is downloading lmodern,and then
after LyX setup exits, modify configure.py (by commenting out the line which
checks lmodern) and then run this script.
Can LyX avoid checking lmodern at setup and just display a message somewhere
during the setup saying that lmodern is recommended to use LyX?

Hello,
I use LyX [1.5.5, 1.6Beta] on top of a small installation of MiKTeX on Windows.
For all postscript related tasks I use the internal version of ghostscript
(mgs) and it works all the time. However, LyX always install another version of
ghostscript which is redundant in my environment. So
important here. I am just used to the way the "official" setup
organises its files. However I am also confused with your answer: if the setup
searches the system for existing python installation, why does it install
another version when I indeed have already installed python myself?

Hello,
I installed the Windows version of Beta4 from BerliOS website and got some
problem in openning some of the standard documentations. For instance the
documents FAQ.lyx and shortcuts.lyx cannot be open in Beta4. It says that the
document was prepared by an earlier version of LyX and lyx2ly

In that case, I would suggest to implement adding
\RequirePackage{CJK}
\AtBeginDocument{\begin{CJK*}{GBK}{}\CJKtilde\CJKcaption{GB}}
\AtEndDocument{\end{CJK*}}
in the preamble, rat

As I am Chinese and also am the maintainer of a special MiKTeX bundle called
MiCTeX for Chinese users (which takes special care of all relevant packages
which LyX might need to run), I might
In LyX-1.5.5-1-Installer.exe both ghostscript and imagemagic are included and
there isn't an option for users to decide whether to install these components
or use the ghostscript and imagemagic already installed on the system. Given
that most LyX-1.5.5 users are already LaTeX users or have alrea
