The file had some English language markings in IPA insets which
triggered the errors
To reproduce, open lib/examples/fr/beamer-article.lyx, then right-click
on the include inset and go to "edit included file". Then preview with
XeTeX.
I can reproduce back to at least 2.2.0.
I get the following:
