I'm not really sure but I think I found a bug in LyX 1.6.0rc2. If I
insert a graphic with an umlaut in the filename I can't create a
DVI, PDF or PS output. If I try to make an output I get an error that
a converter is missing. I tried it with jpg and bmp files. If i delete
