Lyx on a remote xterm

Hi Guys I'm currently using my laptop as a remote xterm and running Lyx of my desk top. I've noticed that Lyx generates traffic even when it's idle (minimised and not in use). No other package that I run does this (matlab, kmail, xdvi, acrobat reader, gv). Why is this? Can it be prevented? B
