OK, I posted the PR to the following newsgroups:

comp.text.tex
The first one was a separate mailing (I believe they auto-kill
cross-posted messages), the others cross-posted.

Hello
I noticed a bug in LyX 1.0.0. My environment is the following:
Pentium 133, Slackware Linux 3.4 (heavy modified)
Kernel version 2.0.33
GCC version 2.7.2.3
Xforms version 0.88
Running `ldd lyx' I get
libforms.so.0.88 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libforms.so.0.
Yes, *please* post the 1.0.0 announcement. (I posted full text as
"comment #1" to the Freshmeat story, if you don't have a copy).
Best regards

I have yet to see an announcement in the usual linux groups about version
1.0.0. I did ask here whether y'all wanted me to post one, but got no
response.
Is anyone planning to post usenet announcements? I'd imagine it would be
preferable to /. in a lot of ways.

Hi,
here's an IDEA for a bugfixing patch. It SEEMS to fix the
delete-does-actually-cut problem. I figured it out with some trial'n'error
hacking. You have been warned. So if necessary, improve the code before
applying this.
There are, e.g., several CutCB calls in lyxfunc.C I don't understand, so

Hi,
as I said, here's a patch that lets lyx start with a splash/help/...
document if no filename to load is given. Mail me or the list about what
you think should be in this file - should it be very short, or should it
contain FAQs...

Hi,
regarding my previous post, in which I said that LyX 1.0.0 crashed when I
ran it: it now works find, since I got the bright idea to remove #define
XOPENIM from config.h.
The configure script should take care of this, I guess. You can do 'uname

No. Think about it.
Concerning the memcpy: I don't really see the need for such low-level
stuff in that place. Even if it is safe, nobody can check it by a
glance. I think it is *much* wiser to trust the compiler to put in the
right code in and use 'higher level' operation (such as assignments of
whole objects etc).

Hi All,
due to some suggestions by JMarc :-? I tried to compile LyX outside its
source-dir.
Well, I actually checke out the sources to my ZIP drive at the office and tried
to build LyX from it at home - keeping the sources on the ZIP, building in
~/.../lyx.
I need to specify bash /path/configure
