Interix (http://www.interix.com , by softway systems),
would probably be a platform that would be of interest.
It would probably be quite straight forward as well.
(I use their product, but am not a developer, nor
am I familiar with Lyx internals, and therefore
couldn't say if it would be easier to get working
with cygwin or Interix.  My understanding is 
that it would _probably be easier with Interix
due to having a native, real UNIX (r) environment
in which to work).

I merely mention it as something that may be of
interest, possibly now, possibly later.
