1) In order to avoid the rather large updates for Chromium, I would like to
uninstall it (I use Firefox anyway).
I have tried the following two commands, but with no joy.
sudo apt-get purge google-chrome-stable
and
sudo dpkg -r chromium
2) Also: how do I extract a tar.gz file?
Thanks,

Ok, I found "Google-Chrome" and not "Chromium-Browser" in Synaptic, and
deleted it, which freed up 184MB of disc space.
My apologies.

Thank you Leszek for your lightning-fast reply!
The solution was to open Abiword first, go to *"file, open"* and then
scroll to *"downloads"* where the relevant document was found.
This, I should have known! (kicking myself...)

Greetings,
For some time I have had two network icons appearing at bottom right task
bar (4 vertical bars).
In the beginning when installing Lubuntu there was only one.
Why is this duplicated, and how do I make only one appear?
Thanks,
Steve

Hi everyone.
Recently I've noticed that if I boot up with a flash drive inserted, I get
the message "Operating System Missing" (quite scary!!).
Normal booting occurs when the flash is removed.
Any ideas why this is happening?

Dear Lubuntu users,
Perhaps some of you have come across the problem of the orientation of
images stored using gThumb.
If I use "Tools" and "rotate right/left" to make the image vertical, it
then appears vertical, but it still uploads (using Firefox) in the sideways

Re: Lubuntu Trusty Tahr 14.04.2 now available
Will this version be available via automatic updates, or do we have to
downlaod it through a link?
And: if I wish to change from 14.04.1.LTS to 15.04 what is the easiest way
to do it?
Thanks,
Steve

Thanks for the feedback everyone.
It appears that the version I had was the older version 0.4.3 in Lubuntu
Software Centre, so I deleted it and went to the Midori official website (
http://midori-browser.org/download/ubuntu/) and installed the latest
version, 0.5.8-1 i386_deb (1.7mb)

Thanks Andre,
Unfortunately Chrome does not appear on the 'Internet' pop-up menu ( I have

should appear under 'Internet' by default after installation.
