Thanks Henk. Yes, I did this (the 32-bit version). I now see that I can open Chrome via the 'Web browser' button on the bottom left task bar, and it is working well! Note: although the Chrome download is only in the region of 47mb it takes around 150mb disk space (this may be important for machines with low disk space), but I like Chrome's minimal no-fuss GUI, and it does seem quicker than Firefox.
