I've got an old i386 machine that runs 12.04 fine but with 12.10 daily
(several versions) it will not finish booting. After the text screen,
it comes up with a screenful of Fontconfig warnings. e.g.:
Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/90-fonts-nanum.conf",

I have an i386 that won't shutdown or restart properly. During the
installation, Ubiquity says the installation is completed and is ready
to restart, but after going through some of the process the machine
hangs. The same thing happens once the machine is booted and I try to
either reboot or shut

I've tried again with the 2012-09-12 Alternate image and the
installation gets stuck while asking for a new CD to be inserted. The
actual message is "Please insert the disc labeled:' Lubuntu 12.10
_Quantal Quetzal_ - Alpha powerpc (20120912)' in the drive
'/media/cdrom/' and press enter." There's

The current Desktop disc image (2012-09-17) still is afflicted with the
bugs:

I'm still running in to the same problem with the beta2 as with the
earlier dailies. After the installation is complete, the desktop and
window manager seem not to start. I get only a (corrupted) mouse
pointer. Which package is this most likely against?
I can ssh and tunnel X. So the packages

I also have Radeon so this also worked for my machine, adjusting for
resolution. I've tried a few variations, but all need the 'radeonfb'
Very often the target of this first linux install is otherwise discarded
hardware.
There's a lot to be said for having the installation CDs work right out
of the box. Because we do not have a foothold in the OEM market, manual
installation is very often a new user's very first serious exposure to
