if you'll read the faq carefully, you should not have any problem.
i have configured NIS on 5 stations + 1 server in 1 hours + 2 reading
all the documentations.

In fact it will, though getting YP to work is not a trivial task.
But technically you could use one NIS master server, distributing
passwords to your other servers. And If you YP server uses shadow
passwords it gets even more complicated. I used it to set up dial-in
server, and it took me a while
