In fact it will, though getting YP to work is not a trivial task.
But technically you could use one NIS master server, distributing
passwords to your other servers. And If you YP server uses shadow
passwords it gets even more complicated. I used it to set up dial-in
server, and it took me a while to figure out why it's not sending
passwords whelst by all known laws it already should have.
