I'd be tempted to download the actual Mandriva One iso the live CD and go from
there. But the snag to this is that you will wipe clean the Linux section of
the HD and loose any specially installed programmes.
If you have PWP, then short of taking out a yearly subscription I do not know

I doubt that you will be able to type that way but, what I would suggest is
that you use a combination of programmes to do the job that you want.
Type your text normally with a graphics type programme like Corel Draw or
Freehand Linux equivalent. These programmes are designed to do what maybe Ope

To get vertical text type your text and rotate it 90 degrees.

Good morning,I noticed that either in Firefox or Epiphany or Opera after
entering the Username and Password I could not continue. The new site appears

Sometimes I have to boot up the computer a second time to get sound from
anything. On checking ALSA by:
# alsamixer -c 0
I see that when sound is not working the Alsamixer is showing incomplete only
one of the sound controls appears instead of seeing the Master and all the
regular other sound

Mustek 1200CS Bearpaw Scanner installation and running difficulties.
I received 2 scanners as a present one is Mustek 2400 Cu Plus and the above.
The 2400 both in Windows XP and Mandriva 2009.1 warnings tell me not connected
or recognised even after trying different leads and USB sockets

This version seems to solve the stuttering sound problems I downloaded the
Static version followed the installation instructions replacing the original.
The sound appears to be much better all round!

When Skype sound gives the repeated sound breakup the console gives me the
following:

?Sound on Skype is very unpredictable. Sometimes it works well and sometimes it
doesn't. I often get brake up?(pauses) with speech. Or I find that the Skype
Sound settings in Options have changed. Or before it worked now it won't.

4GB Hard Disk 128 MB Ram, hard disk is partitioned 2.5 Gb and 1.5.Gb.
I got given this little old laptop it runs Windows XP Pro very well indeed. It
works Office 2000 programmes OK. I am thinking of replacing it with a Linux
