Well, the problem is that dvips is running mktexpk, which in turn would run gsftopk, but without --mapfile=ec-mftrace.map The second problem is that neither tetex-tiny nor tetex-base (in cygwin) doesn't contain jknappen's ec MF files. So either mktexpk should be patched, or the mf fonts include

Well, I was a bit too hasty. I found that after installing ec-fonts-mftraced the command 'updmap --enable Map ec-mftrace.map' could be run. That would solve the problem. I will propose the necessary patch for the cygwin postinstall script, but I think it is as important as mktexlsr in all distr

Josiah doesn't say what text editor he uses to produce the .ly files. The thing is that the inputencoding you specify in the .ly file should be the same as the encoding that the editor uses when saving the file. Since the default inputencoding is latin1, you should either use an editor that saves t

I figured out my problem. I was changing the font to Adobe Helvetic, "phvr", which must use a different font map. When I took that statement out, I got the proper characters. What I'll do for now is just use the sans font-family. Thanks, Rob -- _
