Thanks for the feedback! Normally this would go to the
bug-lilypond mailing list, which I've CC'd.

Hello
I hope this is the right place to point out some errors in the LilyPond
Learning
Manual. I'm a beginner to LilyPond so I may have got the wrong end of the stick
about some things. If so, please tell me!
Here goes:

Oops, I didn't notice that. :)

Yes, but in your proposal, the h [b in non-Deutsch note names)
is not tied (although the g is).

Not possible.

Try something like
\relative a' {
16 8
I tried to tie some notes together wichs are in different Voices. That
failed. Maybe somebody could help me. This is the score:
\relative a' {
16 8 16 ~ << { g' c, d e } \\ { h8 h } >>
}

Hi,
I am trying to typeset some 16th century hymns with lilypond.
I mostly can make it work, but I have a few remaining problems.
My working file is:
http://www.loria.fr/~roegel/tmp/questions.ly
My problems are the following:
1) I would like to show the tempo with mensural notes, not as i
use ^\markup{\dynamic ppp } instead of ^\ppp
Thank you,
This really should be mentioned in the tutorial or notation manual...
The only way I managed to find something on \markup was using the index,
but then you already have to know about it of course...
Best regards,
Stefaan.

The entry in the documentation is "Tuning output/Text markup" rather at the end:
http://lilypond.org/doc/v1.8/Documentation/user/out-www/lilypond/Text-markup.html
Don't complain to much because it has been very very much improved since 1.6 !
Best wishes,

Is there only one staff line on the second page? This appears to be a bug.
If there is one staff line on the last page, the tagline is printed on the
second to last page instead of the last page. The footer is printed on the last
page. I am using 1.6.11.

I can only answer this question:
2) ppp dynamic marking crossing barline (bar 14)
use ^\markup{\dynamic ppp } instead of ^\ppp

The last bar in this .pdf shows a rather weird slur; probably this
is also due to setting slurs attached to stems globally?
Thank you for all answers,
Best regards,
Stefaan.

Dear list,
I have some problems with typesetting my first score
in lilypond 1.7.29 on Debian SID.
I have attached my input file to prove my points. Here's what I think is
going wrong:
1) slurs crossing stems (bars 4, 8, 9, 10, 14)
2) ppp dynamic marking crossing barline (bar 14)
3) it

you could try attaching these slurs to stems rather than note heads. in
bar 4 and 14 that should solve that problem. You will have to do a
\override \revert for the slurs that are crossing stems
