I made such syntax file based on JEdit LilyPond syntax file and JEdit
screenshots from LilyPond site.

It is not complete of course, and is worse than JEdit's one, but it is working.

Many of those words are from bagpipe.ly and related
non-automatically-included files. I'm not certain they *should*
be included in that list.
There are some properties that probably should be included, but
I'd caution anybody to check that those properties really aren't
included in the most lates

lilypond-words files are not complete.

A useful starting point should be the Emacs and Vim modes included in
the LilyPond distribution.
Among others, they contain an automatically generated list of predefined
commands and reserved words in the LilyPond syntax, see
.../usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/lilypond-words.el
and
.../usr/share/lily

expressions, functions or whatever - how many results did you get?

Hello, I also use Notepad++, just use the TeX language definition. To
use it as default when opening a new file go to
Configuration->Configure Styles, search for TeX and add ly as

But there is no LilyPondTool in NotePad++, so it is not fair to say
"hey, LilyPondTool is buggy, so I use notepad++ ".
My question was regarding this. JEdit supports LilyPond syntax highlight
out of the box since the end of 2004.
Also, even if you have problems with LilyPondTool, ie. you can't us
one working solution, doesn't mean that people don't want an
alternative.
