Here's how I attempted to convert finale files to lilypond files after little
success with etf2ly.
First I got the dotlet plugin for Finale which produces MusicXML output. You
can get it here http://www.recordare.com/finale/
Then I used the xml2ly converter by Guido Amoruso.

It didn't work yesterday, but today they seem to be up and running
again. These pages are maintained by gnu.org, so you could expect

First of all, run the command 'texhash' as root to make sure that the
TeX file name database is up to date (it should be done by the
installation scripts, but you never know).
Secondly, I see from the output you get when running lilypond -V,
that the LilyPond files should be installed below
/usr/lo

I cannot tell the future, but LilyPond already has several GUI front
ends, and can import finale using etf2ly.

I have used it (quite a while ago, but the script hasn't been
maintained much, I think), so I can comment a bit further:
- etf2ly has[1] problems with empty measures, in a voice/staff, at the
