This is exactly what I wanted to know. :-)

Hello,
Trying to put a fermata on a bar, following the manual, I use :
\mark \markup { \musicglyph #"scripts-ufermata" }
But it does not print a fermata but "L" :
I use Pedro Kroeger lilypond-snaphot package on debian unstable.
Is anybody has the same problem ?

Hi Jean-Marc/Mats
The problem is that the position of the first bracket is wrong.
It should be:
{e4 f4. f8[ f8. f16]}
instead of
{e4 f4. [f8 f8. f16]}
because lily is now using postfix notation.
When you translate the new version, you get the same output as before, but
without the warning.

Problems like this where the header or footer is missing in the
printed output, are almost always due to the fact that LilyPond
by default gives A4 sized layout and you use letter sized paper
in the printer. Apparently, this was exactly the problem in this
case, see
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/ht
How about
\markup{ \column < {first line } {second line } > }
or
\markup{ \column < "first line" "second line" > }

You mean a marking surrounding both the notehead and the stem?
I don't see a simple solution to that for the moment, since these
are typeset as separate layout objects and the current support for
balloon texts works by redefining functions for each object separately.

It seems that nobody answered your question yet.
Actually, the lilypond command doesn't provide that much
flexibility in the layout. If you want more freedom to
adjust the layout yourself, I recommend to use lilypond-book
instead. Also, the situation is fairly different in the latest
development ve
One possible solution is to use a separate Staff context, where you have
peeled off most normal engravers and reduced the font size.
However, the idea of allowing for general text markups in lyrics would
certainly be useful in several occasions. I send a copy of this feature

Fixed. Thanks for the report.
Anyway, I strongly suggest that you get pre-built packages (like RPMs)
since it is quite difficult to set up my CJK package.

Hi list !
I'de like to write a _\markup {\italic {quand la procession sen retournera joüez ce

lines, so that the text doesn't get out of the page. Id'e like to have this :
quand la procession sen retournera

There is a ps2png program included in the LilyPond source code,
so it's probably a packaging error that it's not included in the
debian package. However, if there's a risk for name collisions with
other packages, it's maybe not a good idea that the script is called
exactly ps2png.
