Talked to an AT&T engineer the other day and
he said something that kind of surprised me.
He said that there are "only" TWO voice switches
for the entire network,
This is the U-verse, residential telephone service.
The TWO "switches" are outside of Dallas and Philadelphia.

While I no nothing about you specific set-up, we had a similar
problem with another companies IP phone.
We had one way comms and drop offs because of router problems.
Once we got the VPN up and working, and had the remote router
doing a "keep alive" ping every 120 seconds.
this seemed to "fix" all
s to donuts that'll solve your problem.

That's the way it works, Your local exchange may be able to change that
number, BUT
every outgoing call will display that number.

I just took in "trade" a kxtd 1232 with a VoiceWorks 16 voice mail /
auto attendant.
Does anyone know ANYTHING about this voice mail ???
