I have one of those installed in my thorp T18. I left the master on and ran it dead. I could not get it to charge on a regular charger after that. I have a trickle charger that I keep on a little three wheeler my wife has. I put that on there and left it after three days I finally got a red light
Hi Mark. I am sure you will like the PC680. It comforts me to know
that you have chosen to get one. Be safe, and have fun flying. John

As a follow up to my Lipo battery issue:

I did purchase a charger for my lifopo battery. I have not had any issues. At
the same time, I installed a master “on” idiot light to help prevent draining
the battery. I also installed a light that illuminates when the battery
electronics senses an issue.

One note on using the EarthX battery. The EarthX battery typically used for aircraft are capable of up to 680 Amps peak draw while cranking and 320 Amps continuous. Your starter will draw 125 - 150 amps while cranking. If you reference FAA Circular AC 43.13-1B Chapter 11, figure 11-3, Conduc
I love EarthX batteries. Great experience with the customer service to. Thumbs

My EarthX has sat for 6 months without charging and still started my O360
engine just fine. Once, after the master had been left on and drained the
battery, it would not accept charge from a 1 amp charger though it did
accept from a 30 map charger and has continued to work fine..

Luis,
How are you regulating alternator charging current to the battery? What
type of alternator? What size battery leads (round-trip length and wire
gauge)?
LiFePO4 batteries are superbly energy efficient and can deliver lots of
power at very stable voltages right down to the last few percent o
I have used an EarthX for 5 years in a Wittman Tailwind with great

I used an EarthX in my KR for several years. It was still in it when I sold it. Kind of pricey, but if you need cold cranking amps, that's the way to go. It should last far longer than a lead acid battery, but the bigger question is, "Why are you eating batteries?" I founnd the wet cell le

Thanks for all the responses. Heat is a concern also being in the engine
compartment on the firewall, it would be nice if it didn't explode. The
old one was a lead acid type...I guess it was ok. It won't take a charge.
I forgot, I'm also in the market for a new spinner. Thanks again.
On Sat,
I couldn't find William's post on the battery, but, IIRC, he warned that
lithium batteries have internal wiring to protect them, and a plane that
was using one had that circuitry shut the battery down, which killed the
ignition. There is no such circuitry in a lead-acid battery.
