For my 2180 VW, I used Power-Sonic 18 amp-hour sealed lead-acid battery. Can
be mounted any position. Power Sonic PS-12180 NB 12V 18AH SLA is $57.99 from
Amazon. I also used a Power Sonic PS-1270 F2 12V 7AH SLA Battery for ignition
and avionics backup. PS-1270 is $25.99 from Amazon. The power control panel
provided automatic transfer to backup battery and kept both batteries charged
using the VW alternator. I used a battery minder when parked in the hangar.
