Maybe convert to conventional gear and put on 2 wheel pants instead of 3.

stare down a KingAir this morning while taxi testing. Guess who won.
He was nice and left me room to get off on the exit ramp. Seeing 3200RPM on
run up now.

Dan,
Take the airspeed indicator and move the face clockwise till the pointer
hits the redline at 138 kts.

I must say that I have had no problems with throttle movement other than

this is the nature of throttle body carbs. The Aerocarb I had which has

I still think I need a higher pitched prop.
Mark,
The solution may not be that easy as it sounds. Increasing pitch will
eat up HP together with engine's RPM. In fact with higher pitch you may
decrease top speed. I would start measuring how level your plane is at
top speed

Be careful. The Ivoprop brand sells a prop that advertises adjustment cams and
an addon in flight adjustment from a electro-mechanical motor. Orma Robbins
used one of their props on his direct drive VW and regretted it. It was not
properly balanced and blades were not uniform from what I rem

One other thing on prop pitch, and let my qualify this by saying that I am
in no way a prop expert but I am relaying the knowledge I learned from Ed
Sterba over many conversations.
Increasing prop pitch does not necessarily increase speed. Many times,

Wow, you guys have all been great in responding to my need for speed and I
have learned from your posts and appreciate all the responses. There are a
few things I can do to make it more aerodynamic that some of you pointed out
and I will make all those mods before I start chasing the prop issue.

Thanks for the information. The net raises flags again but that is what it is
for and the need for that decision is a ways down the road so I'll take it
under advisement. Maybe the more toublesome manual approach is better in the
long run.

Mark;
One suggestion is to look at what the pros do to pick up efficiency and
reduce drag. When you have a little free time, look at LoPresti Speed

airplanes to make them faster, and you might be able to learn from what they
