This was the subject of a long story at one of our EAA meetings. The PIC
actually took off with water in the tail which had frozen. Very exciting.
By all means, add drain holes NOW.

Hi, this is slightly of topic, but has does anyone own the book by
Fine woodworking "Wood and How to Dry It , I am interested in the
Chapter on the Shop-Built Moisture Meter. Having difficulty obtaining
the book here in the UK.

Don't know anything about a moisture meter, but I sure could use one. I was
wet sanding this weekend and I had the plane outside, so instead of using a
cloth to wipe off the residue, I used the hose. Big mistake. I got a lot
of water into the fuselage and I think it got in through the elevator

Dan, I used a 1\16" drill bit and made holes in both
sides of each bay at the low end. I did the same thing
you did with a hose while washing mine. So far I
haven't gotten any more water in, but they drained

A friend of mine has a moisture meter, ( He used it on my spar caps to check
the moisture) he is a cabinet maker, I'll find out more and get back to you
all in a day or to
