Thanks everyone for your info especially the Larry's. I believe I have enough
info to fiberglass with ease. Will let you all know how things came out.

I'm using a hardshell on my foam construction. can anyone give me some
pointers to look out for when hardshelling and fiberglassing? Do I hardshell

What do you mean by hardshelling ?? We can answer your question when we know

I forgot whats the ratio of epoxy to flox? Using the glass beads and west
system 105 with slow hardener. What should it look and feel like when
applying? I need to flox everything including my firewall supports.

epoxy and flox over foam.
Typically you should mix epoxy with microspheres (glass balls is what I call
them ) you mix to a easily spreadable consistency, spread evenly over the foam.
This mixture is lighter weight than pure epoxy is the idea behind it. The pores
in the foam are filled with this micro mixture. When I say
So the epoxy flox will be a real thin layer then just enough to fill in the
foam?
David Swanson
Flox is considered structural. Flox is chopped up cotten fibers mixed with
resin. The ratio you mix it is up to you. It depends on what you are working
on. You need to be able to spread it, so too dry makes that difficult, too wet
may be too heavy so you just have to experiment with some of it t

Not Flox! use microspheres mixed with resin, it will be mixed into a very
easily spreadable paste like toothpaste!! Yes it will be to fill the pores of
the foam only but as I said some wet resin will remain on the surface which
will be used to start wetting out your first layer of fiberglas

As an after though I'll throw in more thing. Any time you have a shiny
surface, whether it is during the first step of hardshelling or during
the wet lay up of the glass, you probably have too much epoxy or
epoxy / micro mix and you should do additional squeegeeing to
remove the excess. If the
So I can just lay my fiberglass down at a 45 degree to the fuselage it self
and I will be fine then?

Look at page 9 and page 80 in the manual. It should give you
an idea of how this is do
If doing a wing just make sure not to get micro on the wood spars. This
should be pure epoxy for a strong bond.
