Because carbon doesn't degrade, and is strong, as we use and discard it, fibers
will gradually accumulate in our environment and cause unexpected and damaging
electrical failures. 'Nuf said.

Ayah, it is not advised to get anything conductive near a 24 volt battery,
especially a Ni-Cad. I knew a young airman who ran the battery shop at
Homestead AFB, FL in the early '70's. He was carrying a big (2K Amp-Hr) Ni-Cad
with the QD facing him and somehow managed to get the buckle of his iss
Try connecting a 24 volt battery in a carbon fiber plane. A wet spot in the
pants is common. Bahahahaha

Carbon fiber cloth is conductive. ?But it's good practice to never store your
batteries in an area where things may be ttossed on them.
Good heads up story Mark.

Carbon is conductivethat's part of why it's corrosive and why you have
to isolate it from any metal. You can do the same thing with steel wool
and a 9 volt battery...old boy scout trick.

Holy crap. I didnt even think about it.
Glad your safe Mark

NetHeads,
I had a wake-up call last night. I was checking a scrap piece of carbon fiber
to see if it was big enough to cover the belly board I'm making for N891JF.
After I'd decided it would do, I tossed it aside onto a pile of stuff that's
slowly been gathering on the workbench. About ten s
