I need some advice on cutting some inch aluminium c section, I was going to
have the parts cut by water jet but they want a set up fee, jig fee, cutting
fee, Tuesday fee etc, so took my business elsewhere, so I bought a couple of
1mm thick cutting discs, which are great for cutting alumimium
A few Sonex builders just used miter saws and a slower cutting action
than you would use with wood (for C and angle extrusions). Probably a
cleaner cut than with a cutoff wheel. A metal chopsaw could be used but
they generally don't offer as many angle options as a compound miter
would.

If the aluminum doesn't get hot enough to burn you it should be fine.
Aluminum is a big no no for grinding wheels though. As a young kid working

The best tool I have in my shop is a Horizontal / Vertical Band saw.
If I remove the normal working table, it folds down into a power Horizontal

Hi Chris
My method is a 7 1/4 miter saw with a 40 toothbladed the
greater number of teeth would be better. I cut very slowly
I place a piece of scrap timber over the top when cutting flat bar aluminum.
If you use a cutting disk then use aluminum specific disk these usually
