How close is the antenna for the radio to the transponder. I would also move the ground wire to a separate log --- Mark Jones wrote: > My panel mount transceiver and transponder with > encoder all work great with very strong signals > reception etc.. However, when I key my mike via a > control s

Mark, I don't know too much about transponders, but I guess the little red light comes off the back of the receiver amplifier, and that it just responds to RF and does not care too much about the frequency. Co-ax cable is very, very good at shielding signal, nothing gets out of those suckers,

You have probably thought of this but since the push to talk button is nothing more than closing a ground in the circuit I would start by checking to see where it might becoming a common ground through the wiring harness. You might ask the controller next time to make sure it is not identing also.

I have been studying the pin outs and checking everything on my plane for proper wiring and grounding to try and get it done properly. On the transponder pin diagram there is a note that reads "transmission may me suppressed by either grounding pin one or applying a positive voltage to pin 15".
