Did retracts on mine with positive pin locking and it's still flying after
20 years, take a look at my web site and you will see how I did mine.

Yes, I am familiar with Bob Sr. we are of the same era. I never had a
problem
with any part of my retracks but it all depends on the TLC one gives it when
constructing and never had an incident with the gear, that's also why flaps
instead of a belly board, all worked as designe
