Jeff, the RayJay turbo runs in a shell bearing much like that in which a
camshaft runs, which uses oil to both lubricate and support the shaft.
If the engine has not run for as long as you say then it is possible the

I have a Revmaster 2180 turbo which has not run in some time... I am trying to

My question is this, the turbo impellers currently do not rotate. I've spent

Hi From Tim in Australia Fellow KR owners
I am shortly to take delivery of a partly assembled KR2. The fuselarge is at
the "Boat" stage and the wing main spars are complete. I have a number of
questions.
It is my intention to use carbon fibre inplace of fiber glass.
Can anyone advise me on how

Carbon fiber if 3-4 times stronger than Eglass. However

Most of your questions are answered at

Larry S took care of carbon fiber...since most of the plane is only one
layer of fiberglass cloth, adding one layer of carbon fiber will save you no

First off range figures are VERY misleading. ANY aircraft can be shown to have
a long range for its type if the engine is run slow enough and the basic tank
large enough. MOST of the time you will find that max range figures are
derived from an economy cruise setting of the engine, at an

Joe, how long is your fuselage? Is it standard KR2S length? Did you use the

Orma,
I've only been on the net here a short time but you seem to stand out as a
leading authority on the KR. I'm a first time builder and would like to
build one of these planes. What are your thoughts on a first time builder
tackling a project this size? What about engine selection? I'd like
On the new wing design with the stronger spars, because the wafs will be
farther apart, does this this also create a higher rating in the wafs?
I am pretty sure now I will be pushing the limit plus of the KR2S with this
foam fused flyer, partially because lets see, the HS is larger, fuse both
The net result of using a thicker wing and having the WAFs further apart is
that there is less stress on them. If the center point of the lift on your
wing was 10' from the WAFs and you were holding up 500 pounds of plane on that
one wing the torque would be 500 foot pounds. If your WAFs were
Steve, My KR2 weighs 690 lbs. with the 0200. I'm using

are still in great shape. Rick Wilson.

You are correct, as Brian said. I'm going to be picky here, but it's not
actually the WAFs that's the weak point, it's the wood
So then I believe the new spar was found to be about 18% stronger than the
old one, so add 18% to the gross load? 1239# rated load? 1200 with safety
margin?

I don't think you can make that leap. The spar is 18% stronger, but that's
not how it'll fail. It's the compression of the wood f

I am new to the KR scene and interested in purchasing a finished KR2. I have
a couple questions:
1) Literature posts the cruise speed around 180 mph. Some ads i've seen say
the plane does 130 mph. Why the dispariety?
2) What is an acceptable empty weight for the KR2?
3) What should one look out fo

What a coincidence! I also am picking up a partially completed kit this

I have just started reading the KR emails, so I hope to get up to speed soon.
