Yeah... Most of it is regulatory overhead & lawsuit/insurance expense...
In a world where we had a Canada-style 'Owner Maintained' category & you
didn't have to pay $400 for a $75 12v Ford alternator simply because it had

One other price, in 1989 bought a Grumman AA1B with a zero-hours Mattituck
engine and a fresh annual for $8500. It needed radios and was maybe a 7/10
cosmetically but it was solid and a great plane. Bought it with a partner and
he was an IFR multi guy (went on to fly for the majors) and insisted

Back in the 50's, the Air force aero clubs were owned and operated by the
club members. When the Air Force took over management, they decided that
they had to make a profit to help pay for other rec. progra

Just to clarify, that was an FBO $38/hr for the Tomahawk wet,?? our local club
in the 90's was $35/hr wet for a IFR 172. Not sure what it is now, I'll ask.

Seems like club's (shared cost, no profit) make the best rental rates.
I've long had a dream of flying a light plane to Oz or Malaysia for resale. Any
interested parties at your end? I would assume all risks, purchase the plane
(used) and insure the flight in exchange for a certain and simple sale in Oz. I
am an A&P, Commercial, IFR pilot. Seems an unshippable plan

I started flying in 1957 at a SAC aero club at Davis Monthan AFB in
Tucson, AZ. We paid $4.00 per hour for a J-3 and a Champ 7AC. $5.00 per hour
for a Tripacer and $8.00 for a T-34. Time wa
