Mike,
Concur to just keep it simple. I bought new low cost VFR gauges from either
Aircraft Spruce or Wicks to get the airplane up in the air. Just a
Airspeed, altitude, compass, and VSI to begin with. I used a handheld radio
for
years as well with no transponder. I also had just a handheld
I have had no issues with the original U channel hinges. Over 500 hours now
on my KR2S. I inspect regularly and don't see why anything more is needed.
People have talked about sloppy fitting, but that is probably due to the
builder, not the design.

Pierre,
I have a 70 hp VW and use 1100 as my maximum weight. I think aircraft
performance is going to be your limit. I fly at sea level at only get about

to 300 fpm on a hot summer day at max load - but I am comfortable with
that. If you are at 4500 feet starting altitude, you may have
Well heck, my KR is not going to make it to the Gathering. Sorry Mark
Langford, you'll need to find another candidate for the weight and balance
forum.
I was flying back from breakfast Saturday morning. I air I did a Magneto
check in air and the left Mag was running rough. No problem, right

Alan,
I've got link to a spreadsheet on my web site for the C.G. Range. However I
do have a KR2S so yours might be slightly different.

Basically C.G Range is 8 - 16" of the wing cord. For my plane I used the
firewall as the 0 point. Therefore the wing C
Joe,
If you've got the standard Dan Deihl gear legs, you don't need to worry.
They are mounted flush with the rear main spar. Just make sure when you
install your nose gear that the aircraft is level, not nose down. That might
cause some adverse takeoff behavior.

Terry Chezik will be having his annual Fish Fry/BBQ on Saturday Aug 17th
at Marion Airport. Start time is approx 5-6 pm for the food. Fun starts
before then. Several planes fly into this event from around the KS and MO area
each year. Hope to see a few KR pilots.

Brad,
Sorry for your loss, glad to hear the pilot is fully recovered. Good
summary and pictures to help understand the accident. The NTSB report is
curious, vapor lock? What were the temperatures in May when the 1st flight was
done? I seem to recall it was a pretty cool May, at least around
Speed thoughts.
I found my prop was incorrect. Odd how they are different from different
manufacturers as well. What are you using and what RPMs are you seeing?
I've got a Revmaster 2100. 1st prop was a Sterba 54 x 50, but it would
rev very high and I would cruise at 3200 rpm at get 120 mph.
