Hi Russ,
Have you tried connecting a heavy duty car battery? does that turn the motor?
A over powerful starter will not work with a small aero battery, the internal
resistance of a small battery will limit the current flow through the starter.
Just something to think about.

It seems to me that as well as CG issues you may be taking off too slow and

Why are out taking off at 75% power? How do you know it's 75%?

A word of caution, I recall a few years ago a kr pilot was killed doing a test
with ballast.
I don't remember his name, but the presumed cause was a ballast bag getting
loose and ending up in the tail section

Mark,
Your right I really should, but as I said I wimped out as I don't want to end

Spin training isn't part of UK PPL sylabus, so I am rather nervous about
getting into a situation I can't handle.
I still contend that it would be better for our friend to build light with

Hi,
I am no expert, but as far as I can figure, a belly board will increase drag
but will not increase lift, so will not allow a lower landing speed.
The belly board drag will allow a steaper approach, it will also help you bleed
off speed during the roll out.

Hi ,
I read Joe's report of flying to Oshkosh a couple of years ago,. I must
have found it on the net, but cannot find it now.
He trailered it all the way down and back one year then flew it down the
next year. One of the guys that inspired me to want a KR.
At one time he kept it outside all y

Hi,
I am in the middle of replacing my canopy. I have searched the archive,
and find no info on how to bond a bubble to the frame.
I have inherited what I think is an original kr2 canopy, and a GRP
frame. the GRP frame has a flange that will sit inside the bubble, ie
the screen will be bonded

Hi Joe,
Almost certainly it was carb icing, the evapouration of gas in the carb
cools the throttle body dramatically, - even on a warm day.
In UK it is probably number cause of in flight engine stops, and the
circumstances of your stop are exactly consistent.
I have had it happen to me twice,

Hi,
Has anybody ever published a power/max speed graph for a typical KR2 and
a similar thing for a typical KR2S.
There is a website http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/javaprop.htm.
It has a Java applet you can use to design your own prop, you just need
to put in max speed, max power, prop dia

Hi,
I guess that indexing a prop is a US term, cos I have not heard it in
UK, so I am guessing what is meant.
I think in many cases it is a practical choice rather than an
engineering decision.
Assuming that the prop is well balanced, the orientation should not make
any difference what way ro
Hi,
In the early 90's just about every car manufacturer in Europe offered a
petrol turbo, it was an easy way to bring a performance model to a dull
model range - it was also "sexy".
Today in spite of the many advances made in engine design over the last
10 years, turbos have pretty much disapp
Hi,
I am just in the process of buying a KR2, and one of the big attractions
is being able to easily remove the wings.
My current a/c is stored 45 mins from home, and needs 30 mins to extract

house is very attractive, plus i
Hi,
This question concerns landing in a std KR2 tail dragger with Diehl

I guess that regardless of the AUW, the 3 pointing speed should be the
same for all KR2 built with the std length fuselage, so what is that speed.
