FWIW, KAEG has long runways and a tower that is friendly and not very busy. With big flat fields around it, it's an ideal place for a first flight. There is a good EAA Chapter with a lot of builders there. I know the Tech Counselor and Flight Advisor there and would recommend working with him

"I still need someone to help out on the first take off of my KR because experience is what it takes!!" Rob Schmitt's advice pretty much nails it.  I would add only that first flights by inexperienced KR pilots should be done on the longest runway possible.  This reduces stress of worrying about

Dr. Hsu, The youtube link says the flight was in Devonport Tasmania, that is a long way from KAEG. Robert Gill looks like the owner. I'm not sure this flight was the best. On takeoff, it is best to level out once off the ground and build up some airspeed (at least 80 mph) before starting a climb
