FWIW, KAEG has long runways and a tower that is friendly and not very busy.  
With big flat fields around it, it's an ideal place for a first flight.  There 
is a good EAA Chapter with a lot of builders there.  I know the Tech Counselor 
and Flight Advisor there and would recommend working with him to prepare to fly 
your plane.
