Thanks to everyone for their input on the bent rudder horn. Thx especially
to Glover for telling us what's available from NVAero including the billet
machined upgrade part. Good to know.
I checked with Rob's suggestion to contact Wicks; they only have the 6063
material and they checked & confirmed

Need to find out what others have used as a rpm source that works with a Dynon

is not very specific. I know that William has suggested a flywheel tooth

John,
I'm going to stick my neck out and use your rudder horn failure to
express my "opinion" on control surface stops that I came to believe
when building my KR. I'm going to guess you have a rudder stop or
limit at the tail and your system allows rudder input beyond the stop
range. It
I have a ton of the stuff left over from RR. It was all 6063. I don't like it
and only provide it if someone really wants it. If I provide them at all, I
usually machine it out of billet similar to what Richard Shirley and I had on
our KR's. It is thicker at the root and tapers for the cable a
John,
If you can get 2024T3 material instead of the 6061 it is much better. I know
in the homebuild marked the 6061 is used very much because it is so easy to
produce a part. But it is so very soft. As a prof sheetmetalworker I realy hate
that stuf. It is nice to weld and very good corrosion re
Jim,
I used fiberfrax overlaided with aluminum sheet for my firewall. The
thickness of the fiberfrax is not important. It is still rated for 2300 deg
F regardless of thickness.
I have not heard of Isofrax paper.

What thickness of fiberfrax should be used for firewall insulation.
While ACS sells 1/16" and 1/8" I have found that it is available in 1/4"
and thicker from other sites.
Is thicker necessary ? Cost effective ?
Also I found a product called Isofrax paper. Anybody used this ? It is made
by the same
John,
Looks like Wicks still sells the 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 that is called for in the plans.
