I bought my first KR1 kit from Joe Wallace (list member) in 1988 one
year after getting my ticket and after researching the options, and
with no place to build it. This was pre-internet, and Joe gave me a
ring binder with all the newsletters in it and I read them often. I
had been in communication
Good advice. Just make it a point to do something on your project every day.
That will keep you engaged and keep the project moving forward. While building
my KR, I worked on it every day, with the exception of a 3 month break due to
illness. When I built the Avid Flyer, I also worked on i
This past Wednesday I went with a friend to look at a KR-2 project he was
interested in at Cambridge, MD, CGE. The owner/builder is in a nursing home
with early Alzheimer's. Friends are trying to sell the project for him.
This KR-2 is a retract tail dragger. Looks to be sitting about ten year
It took me a lot longer than I thought it would. Life catches up to you and
throws curve after curve at you. I had intended to have mine finished in time
to visit my son at collage, He graduated 6 years ago. Just sayin.

During the repair and rebuild of my Air Camper I maintained a list of things
that needed to be done as I encountered them or wanted to add them. It was a
long list. Some evenings I would sit at home and review the list and modify it
as needed. Then one fine Saturday at the hangar, I had just

I forget what kind of engine you're using, but I would not hang a
nitrous system on any

My current project is getting closer to completion. Landing gear (retrack)
change out finished. Return fuel line will be done today (suggested by
Rotec when using 91). Replacing strobe light next week. Adding second set
of seat belts (that's another interesting story). Getting idle adjustment

In my own defence too, I have built 19 whisper motor gliders and one
whisper X350 in the last 11 years for other people while working on mine
only now and then when I had the opportunity.
You don't get much opportunity when you are working on others planes 17
hours a day!

I have accumulated a lot of parts and have two projects on the go... my
official retirement was yesterday and I intend to spend some time on my
projects ( weather permitting) but once spring arrives I will be all out on
them. I will also have parts to help others gain ground in their builds. Onc

I feel the need to get off my ars and finish this thing. In my defense I did
buy the Smith to break in my engine and experiment with systems for the KR.
That has been very helpful and will speed my building a bit.
I agree with Mark also. I took pieces of my KR-2 and helped other builders
get closer to being in the air and I also plug away every day to get my
Taylor monoplane into the air. Don't give up fella's

I totally agree with Mark on this one, I have suffered from all conditions
mentioned including AIDS being the most recent. My KR is sitting in a
container 1000km away from me while I re build my life (and get older every
day).
For me it is money right now, I can't afford to open the container doors

KRnetHeads,
The other day I said "You need to finish that plane before you get too
old to fly it". This observation comes from watching so many KR
builders spend incredible amounts of time and effort to create a
masterpiece airplane, that often times is sold or parted out before the
builder eve
