That's called a stress riser. That's not a material problem, that's a
design problem.the same problem happens with like materials, or even the
same piece of material.

I find Carbon fiber to be easier to work with than fiberglass. Yes, you can
combine them. There's not much need for CF in a KR, but I used some simply
because I wanted to develop my skills with it. (we do build these for
education and fun, right?) My horizontal stab and elevator are CF. My
