Hi All,
Getting way ahead of myself here, but back in the day (way back) I recall RR
supplied a 3-blade ground adjustable prop. I thought it looked really cool. I'm
sure that on balance, a simple, light weight 2 blade wooden prop is by far the
best option. But just for the heck of it, thought I'
KRnetHeads,
I flew two hours yesterday afternoon, and was going to sit it out and do
some things on the plane today. But an hour before sunset I was done
with what I was going to do, and decided to fly anyway. One of the
tests I was going to do tomorrow was fly it without a generator. My

Chris it takes me approximately 1 to 1.5 hours with the assistance of a
second person to install the wings. ?Taking them off takes slightly shorter
time. That includes on and off of pitot line, alearon linkage, fuel ?tubing and
gap seals. ?Also... I leave any unused fuel in the tanks.

Because with ANY amount of fuel in the tank, if it is capped and vented
normally, the ratio of fuel to air (oxygen) */inside/* the tank is never
near that required for ignition. Way too rich, in other words, like

The Glasair line does use a center section standpipe for a capacitive probe.
I don't necessarily have a picture of your tank configuration, but why not put
a flange in the side wall of the fuel tank and mount the probe there? Mine

In regards to Aircraft fuel tanks, I'll stand by my statement.

Today was a very rewarding day for me.? I took time off from working on my
plane and took nine kids up flying for there first flight. ?It ?was though the
Young Eagles program with my local Aircraf Experimental Association chapter. ?

Not a good plan. That will only lead to your plane staying where you store
it. The KR is not designed for that purpose. It could take up to an hour
or maybe as little as 20 minutes, depending on how good the mating is.
However, I do believe that fuel in the wings is a very good plan.

Hi All,
If I build a KR1 (likely) how long can I expect it to take to remove the wings
and then re-install at the airport? I do plan for fuel in the wings, guess that
would have to be drained each time.
Not necessarily so. See:

Hi - went by the airport this morning, thought that was your pick-up.
you weren't there. Had to go thru the terminal as I forgot (again)
What is it again?
Who do you like in the NFL games tomorrow? We're pulling for Greenbay
and the Colts.
The fuel itself will not burn. If a spark occurs in the fuel, nothing
happens. If the spark occurs above the fuel level, the fumes will burn in an
explosive manner.

I also I'm using capacitance probes from Centroid. I have 40" long probes that
bend 85 deg just after the sensor head. They were built to be able to bend
there. I had to make a bending tool to make a tight radius. They mount thru the
top of the tank and slip into a piece of I/2" slotted pvc
I wouldn't let electrical connections in the tank worry me much, as long
as the connections are positive and not going to spark. I just replaced
the fuel pump in my wife's fuel tank, and the +/- 12V connections that
run the pump are right there in the tank, submerged most of the time,
but not
As I learned it decades ago, with any fuel at all in the tank even if
there is a spark, the fuel to oxygen ratio is so high that it would not
ignite. Automobiles have had electrical resistance type gauges in the
tank for a long time, and as Mark points out, have also had submerged
electrical
I'm not concerned about electrical connections in or near the fuel. The only
reason I'm placing them in the tubes is, I don't want to cut holes in my wing
surface. I think I seen a article were Lancair or glasair uses this type of
system.

Larry,
Nice video! I also noticed how clean the bottom of your airplane is! I don't
think my airplane bottom has been that clean since I painted her.
Thanks,
