Some FWs over the net are for 2 port and some for 4-port. I had
situation after Windows Application FW upgrade, that card was programmed
wrongly as 2 channel 4 port instead of 1 channel 2 port card resulted in
yellow Windows mark after every reboot. It was with 2.0.2.6 FW. Please

Why the xhci_hcd module which is unstable driver itself and works with many
unstable USB 3.0 controllers and devices (with bugs) is compiled in kernel and
cannot be easoly disabled???

kernel v4.9-rc8 as bisect good and v4.10-rc8 as bisect bad but I get:

Some good revs are not ancestor of the bad rev.
git bisect cannot work proper
kernel v4.10-rc8 boots until hang on bug under 16.04.2 LTS. I don't know
why the same kernel under 15.10 it is not, but it is freezed release and

As explained, I tested using mainline kernel 4.11-rc7 and Bluetooth
still did not work.
There is no "airplane hotkey," although Fn-F3 toggles WiFi. There are
generally no dedicated hotkeys: for example, Fn-F7 toggles the touchpad
and Fn-F9 toggles the keyboard backlight.
Bluetooth works correctly
This happened to me as well. Luckily I have an ethernet port on my
laptop and was able to find a drop so I could apply this fix. Guessing
the update blew a bunch of people out of the water. The ppa provided did
fix the issue.

I googled and found that chrome is using ALSA, while FF is using Pulseaudio.
Maybe that's the issue.

It seems that all kernels I tried produce metallic audio, I believe you can
easily reproduce this by trying them.
Even the 5.4.52-050452.202007160732 kernel produced metall
To answer my own question - I suppose the ubuntu kernels are more optimized and
have multiple fixes and drivers that the mainline/upstream kernels do not and
that's why I get the metallic audio...
I wonder what was fixed in Ubuntu's kernel to make this issue go away.

I used this command in a terminal as directed:
apport-collect 1716304
and now the post seems to be corrupted.
This is a new install so I have no prior history with the problem. And,
I am not able to test a different kernel on that computer.
