It only happens with NVidia, and only with newer driver versions. That doesn't
necessarily mean it's a driver bug, but it's not unlikely, and we're not
getting anywhere here either way.

Downgrading to nVidia 550.144 dkms in Arch definitely cured the issue for me.
System has gone through sleep cycles, had it's external monitor unplugged and
plugged back in again.
