not sure, but i guess meant was to move several items from layer mouse

Jon,
We appreciate you hosting the nightly build for as long as you did. I
purchase some space on a web server, but it isn't very big. Maybe we
could talk one of our corporate sponsors into hosting the nightly
build?
In the meantime, I will resume the weekly builds.

Thanks Stefan. Also, don't forget that I recently added a Layer
context mouse menu item that does this operation. I think it is
called "Extract features by geometry type" or something similar. All
that would be necessary to fix Save Dataset As would be to call this
feature if it fails your "inco

Hi Jon and SS,
I have plenty of web server space, however I'm not sure about the
automated build itself. What is the required environment to automate
the build?
Apparently the SourceForge rules won't allow us to host the nightly
build there, but perhaps the build can be done on their shell.
Alas, the CruiseControl script used to do the build was lost with the hard
drive that failed. Anyway, it was pretty straightforward - most of the heavy
lifting was done by the Ant script (which we have - it's the build.xml file
in the source-code repository).

So, basically the steps would be:
1. Check out the latest source from the repository.
2. Do the Ant build with the proper target.
3. FTP the resulting zip file to the site where it will be hosted.
Is that about right?
I could set up the download directory from step 3 under the

Yup that's correct.

Hi!
I'm going to write a little cron'd script which
will
- check out the source from SVN
- start an ant build
- push the result to our site
I only need to talk to the administration which
of our build servers is best suited for this, but
this is a mere formality. Stay tuned ...

Here is an interesting blog post about Java 7:
http://beautifulcode.oreillynet.com/2007/09/will_java_7_be_beautiful.php
It mentions a proposal to add something called "closures" to Java. I'm
still trying to figure out how to use Generics. :] This makes me
wonder if the Java programming language w
I have still a few question.
* What about security?
Ant has tasks like which may be a fine way to compromise a build
server.
Was the old build process jailed in a way?
* How much traffic is to be expected? Are there any statistics available?
Maybe its a good idea to balance the traffic by

Sascha,
I can't answer the security question, but I think you'll find the
nightly build is used mostly be our active developers. If we can ever
get on a regular schedule for our official releases, I think you would
see this use drop.

I'll be happy to host a mirror for this side of the world.

I've read the book "Beautiful Code" by Andy Oram and Greg Wilson that
was referenced on the blog. Personally, I didn't find any of the
examples listed particularly beautiful, but they were interesting if
you like that sort of thing. Beauty in code, as in everything is in
the eye of the beholder.
