the hda1 is now changed to reflect the original D drive. I feel
that only the partition info and FAT table of the newly connected harddisk
has been overwritten. The sectors should be untouched.
How do i set the other drive back to its previous state?

successfully, uptil redhat 7.1. now after upgrading to 7.2 (also a clean install) i am unable to Acccess my CDROM drive, i always get "/dev/cdrom is not a valid block device" whenever i try to mount it...
hoping for some helpful answers from the linux gurus out there....
