Managed to get a cable (ethernet) connection and using 24online. I'm
using Linc to connect, and it's working fine so far. Had to use the
Cyberroam client initially to sniff the auth info from the ethernet,
once I got that and created /etc/lincrc it's working fine.

Yes. you do. but only once. You use tcpdump to extract the encrypted
password and put in the the config file. After that when you run linc,
it would use the same password string.

Nah, I authenticated myself using the official 24online client from
Cyberroam. At that time I captured the authentication packet that
went to the server. Then using the linc READM
Draws up an interesting case for Open source in schools. Now that we are
actually undertaking one such endeavour..we should think about it.

I strongly feel, system programming is more of a micro-processor lang. than
a programming lang.
If u 've closely gone thru Linux src code, it contains many KLOC of intel
instructions.
if u r comfortable enough in 8085 & 8086 than probably u r not far from
mastering it.

I agree with what you say about RedHat. The configuration it generates after the
install leaves a lot to be desired. I have never found a distribution as good as
Mandrake (esp. compared to the RedHat 8).

Actually there is no substitute for visual studio under linux. But if you
wan't to program under linux, here are a few options:
1. Kylix from borland. If you like visual studio, then you

Try Kylix from Borland, same as Delphi in Windows, as
also KDevelop.

buddy, visual stdio is a microsoft product.it contains
pkg like VC++, VB, V Java, InterDev.
as substitute u can use C++ with QT library or Java on
X-Windows.Still there's no substitute for VB...
however the exe's made in VC, Vb or VJ can well be run
o linux...
