You can happily reduce the estimated price of your computer by 3000 bucks.
Both the Samsung and Seagate 40 GB HDDs are in the range 4100 - 4300 at
Nehru place.
Samsung Keyboard + Scroll mouse will cost you around 600 -700 only.

Of course this is for the PCI winmodems. If you have any no winmodem
internal modem (like the older isa card variety) then they will almost
certainly work with linux.

Generally, users have gone in for SDRAM with P-IV, ending up with wasting
their money. P-IV gives the speed advantage only with RDRAM. But it would be

illiterate, and he needs a P4 1.7 GHz. to surf the 'Net, do some word processing, etc.

The CD-RW drive apparently writes CD-R's at 20X -- I think there's
