I have redhat 7.2 installed on a system
when i connect is get's connected and after some time
get's disconnected automatically when i saw the log it
say's
LCP terminated by peer
Hangup (SIGHUP)
Modem Hangup
Connection Terminated
it also say's that pppd daemon died exi
It could be because problem in PAP authentication.Also
it could be that the server is not able to attribute
an IP address to the client. Although I haven't used
RH 7.2, I have heard that people have encountered
problems with ppp version bundled with RH 7.2. In that
case you can try compile directl

that is how you're invoking pppd.

When I had this problem, following thing helped me.
Go to X Windows, Dialup Configuration Tool
Go to Setup And add an Argument "defaultroute" without quotes
Now it is ready to run [I hope so]

i'm having Linux 6.1 on my machine at home
and the command su -u login_name does
not work
but on sun solaris at my office works
well.
can any one tell me about -u switch in as detail as

Hello all
As varun has said i am posting the log as still ppp is
giving problem to me i am using wvdial to connect from
(redhat 7.2) the command prompt of my server and also
put "noccp" in /etc/ppp/options file well not getting
what would be the problem please help

AFAIK there is no -u switch to the command su in
Linux. In any case why do you want to use that switch?
"su login_name" should work.
